As part of the course on international contract law, Valentyn spoke to the students on the following topics: “M&A Transactions with a Foreign Entity” and “International Funds, Foundations and Trusts for Structuring Multinational Business”. Both lectures were held as part of the professional mentoring program, which is actively promoted by the leading Ukrainian university to establish a dialogue between law students and proactive practitioners and to ensure high quality professional development of young people.
Both lectures were lively and productive – students actively asked questions about transactional instruments, sought additional information and modeled situations on implementation of complex transactions in the face of abuse, debt obligations and other risks. They asked questions and discussed the topics of tax guarantee clauses when structuring international assets, decisions on development and imposition of sanctions, and offshore transactions.
In addition to legal knowledge, the students discussed with Valentyn Zasukha the most interesting aspects of gaining professional experience. For example, master students learned about the tasks during a typical working week of a junior associate in a law firm in the corporate law and M&A practice. They also learned about professional and personal qualities that a real job requires of an aspiring lawyer, namely, what knowledge a young colleague should have when joining a law firm and what he or she will have to learn quickly during the work.
